+ How will I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

Choosing a therapist is a deeply personal experience. I provide a 15 minute consultation at no charge, so that we can get to know each other better. The only way to truly decide whether I’m the therapist for you is to come in for a session (or attend one virtually). I pride myself on my extensive knowledge and previous experience in chronic health conditions, childbirth trauma, infertility, substance abuse, and culture.

+ What can I expect from therapy?

If you’ve recently decided to see a therapist for the first time, you may be confused about how it works. Therapy is an individual experience and can vary greatly depending on each person. You can expect me to listen to and address your concerns with thoughtful questions. Though I won’t have an answer to every question you ask, my goal is to guide you towards finding the answers and solutions you need, for yourself.

+ How often do you have to go to therapy?

I usually recommend starting with therapy once or twice a week. As time goes on, we will determine when to decrease therapy based on our agreement with your progress and development. Therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes.

+ How often do you have to go to therapy?

I do provide virtual therapy that is HIPPA compliant. If you’re interested in this, I provide free 15 minute consults over the phone to determine if it’s a fit for you.

+ What kind of therapy do you conduct?

I specialize in unifying therapy, which means I’ll use a combination of techniques to best help you on your journey to a healthy mind and body. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. I’m also trained in yoga and meditation techniques, which I am happy to incorporate into therapy as desired.

+ Do you provide medication for anxiety or depression?

I do not prescribe medication as only psychiatrists are licensed to do so. However, therapy can be a powerful tool when used in addition to medication or as a standalone treatment.

+ Can I try holistic approaches to therapy and do you provide these?

Holistic approaches can be a great additional source of help during counseling. I am trained in both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as holistic approaches, like yoga and mindfulness. Along with being an LCSW, I have completed a 200 hour specialized yoga training in mindfulness-based interventions.

+ Is there an age limit for clients?

Therapy is available for adults of all ages, there is no age limit.

+ Do you accept insurance?

Unifying Therapy is in network with BCBS PPO, United Healthcare, and Cigna. I recommend checking my website for in network provider updates. Check with your insurance provider directly for out of network benefits I am able to provide a superbill that can be submitted directly to your insurance provider.

+ How long is a session, what is the cost and how do I pay?

Sessions are 50 minutes in length and cost $160 for the intake sessions and $130 for a therapy session. Payment is acceptable in the form of cash, check, or credit card. I provide a free 15 minute consultation, a fee may apply for longer sessions.

+ Do you offer discounted or sliding-scale rates?

I provide sliding-scale sessions on a limited basis, depending on financial circumstance. For additional inquiries, send me an email with your questions.
